Independence and self-sufficiency are two very important goals for foster youth and disadvantaged teens as they move towards adulthood - the most significant step being obtaining a driver’s license. Val’s Respect the Road Scholarship provides the necessary funding for drivers’ education that is often unavailable to this group of young adults. As a former CASA, I know, first hand, what a difference this scholarship can make in so many young lives. Andrea Y.
SRK is proud to offer Val’s scholarship! Teens will he able to apply, but in order to qualify they will have to attend the SRK Teen Traffic Safety Program followed by an essay focusing on one of our victim speakers. Please check out our flyer with dates in the picture section.
This Scholarship is named after Valentina Dalessandro who passed away at age 16 when a teen driver crashed after engaging in a street race while giving her and her friends a ride home.
Our mission is to raise awareness regarding the dangers of illegal street racing and traffic safety among the youth. In a matter of seconds it does not matter if it's a lonely stretch of a rural road, a city street, or even an interstate freeway, it can become a raceway to those not thinking of the individuals that can be hurt or killed..
