Join the Fight for Good: Be a Volunteer Bell Ringer
Over the last 127 years The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign has grown to be one of the most iconic and popular service opportunities during the Christmas season. Originating in the United States, Red Kettles can now be found around the world, in such countries as Korea, Japan, Chile, and many European countries.
Make a Difference in the South Bay
The Red Kettle Campaign is a staple to the Christmas Season and our largest fundraiser of the year. 100% of donations stay local. If you give in the South Bay, you are serving the South Bay! The donations dropped in the kettles go directly to the services we provide the community all year long. Volunteers are vital to the success of this campaign. Please help us in the fight for Joy this Christmas!
Bell Ringing is great for musicians, service clubs, schools, companies, and other groups. Use this opportunity as a team building experience or to work towards your volunteer hours.
Ways to Volunteer
Volunteer individually or with a friend. 4, 6, and 8 hour shifts are available.
Bring your club, company or school and volunteer with a group. Groups can take over a kettle location for half or an entire day, and schedule shifts however way they would like with the people they have. Plus, groups who are looking to Make an even greater impact. Pay a flat donation of $200 (per day) or commit to a matching gift challenge dollar for dollar, and we will display your business or organization on the kettle stand of your choice.
Donations through the Red Kettle Campaign have a significant impact on the Torrance Corps annual budget. In 2018, donations placed in the Kettle totaled over $77,000.
Of the 2018 Kettle donations that were received, $15,000 went towards wages for paid Bell Ringers.
It is a fact that volunteers raise more in donations. In 2018 volunteers raised nearly 3x more than paid workers ($27 vs $70 per hour). The energy and positivity volunteers bring benefits The Salvation Army greatly.
With the growing restrictions on Kettle location sites, The Salvation Army has to find other ways to make the Red Kettle Campaign thrive. Increasing volunteer
hours is the #1 way to make the campaign a success
